Company History
What began with one store in downtown Barrington has grown to 6 franchises in one state-of-the-art campus and our dedication to customer experience has made Motor Werks a landmark location in luxury automotive retail for over 50 years.
1971
Paul D. Tamraz, the Chairman of the Board and Founder of Motor Werks purchases his first automotive franchise.
1980
Motor Werks of Barrington is founded in downtown Barrington with BMW and Mercedes-Benz.
1986
Mother Werks incorporates the Porsche franchise.
1987
Motor Werks Automotive Campus opened. Three brands under one roof.
1988
Cadillac and Honda become Motor Werks Franchises.
1992
Motor Werks incorporates the INFINITI franchise.
2002
Motor Werks acquires a second Mercedes-Benz franchise in Hoffman Estates.
2006
Motor Werks Acquires a second INFINITI franchise in Hoffman Estates.
2011
Motor Werks adds Land Rover to the Hoffman Estates cluster.
2013
Motor Werks builds Wash Werks, a state-of-the-art automotive spa, offering hundreds of complimentary car washes daily.
2017
Jaguar is added to the Land Rover location.
2017
Starbucks Cafe joins the Motor Werks campus, serving complimentary drinks and treats to customers.
2020
In January, Motor Werks sells all 4 Hoffman Estates dealerships to narrow our focus, allowing us to be more nimble and innovative.
2021
Completed the purchase of 10 acres on neighboring land for expansion.
2023
Motor Werks acquired by Murgado Automotive Group.
